Staying in Tobermory

Tobermory sits at the tip of the Bruce Peninsula, remote enough that the drive from Owen Sound takes about three hours, and the pace slows noticeably outside summer. Visitors come for the scenery, the shipwrecks and a landscape shaped by glaciation and erosion, and the area is part of the traditional territory of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation. Bruce Peninsula National Park, Flowerpot Island tour boats and the shipwrecks of Fathom Five National Marine Park are the draws, with the harbour at Little Tub as the walkable commercial core.

These 4-star properties are nearly all cottages and retreats rather than staffed hotels, spread along the roads around town rather than in one district. The closest to the centre are 45 Degrees North Waterfront & Hot Tub on Corey Crescent, 2.3 km out, and Georgian Legendary Tobermory Retreat With Hot Tub on China Cove Road, at 2.4 km; Tobermory Village Getaway on Corey Crescent is 3.5 km away. Others sit further out towards the water, up to 10.8 km from the centre. With kitchens, fireplaces and family rooms throughout, they suit couples, families and small groups on a short break who want space and self-catering.
